This online course is specifically designed for teachers who have recently taken on the responsibility of leading on English. We will discuss why subject leadership of English is so important. We will guide you with practical strategies and offer suggestions that can be implemented, encouraging the effective management of all aspects of leading on English.

During the session, we will help you to:

• Reflect on the current picture of English in your school
• Consider current school priorities for developing English (linked to SDP or recent Ofsted)
• Create an effective Action Plan
• Plan effective Audit activities
• Evaluate teaching and learning e.g. learning walks, book-looks, pupil-voice, staff-voice
• Support staff development and provide effective CPD
• Develop parental engagement.

Suitable audience:  recently appointed English Subject Leads.
