Developing a Whole School Approach to Spelling (Zoom)
This online course will support English Subject Leads to develop the teaching of spelling in their school.
During this course, we will provide:
- Support on carrying out an audit of current teaching practice
- Guidance on how to make informed decisions on timetables and use of resources
- Advice on how to use existing school schemes
- Guidance on effective methods to teach spelling without a commercial scheme
- Advice on how to support staff to plan links between spelling, handwriting, grammar and English units
- Suggestions for staff meeting(s)
- Guidance on how to prioritise spelling and monitor impact
- Advice on how to identify effective impact measures.
Suitable audience: English Subject Leads and members of SMT. This course is particularly suited to anyone who is new to the role of Subject Lead or is looking for a new approach.
