During this two-part course, we will support you to develop an understanding of how to achieve success in the Phonics Screening Check.

The course will provide an understanding of:

• How to plan and teach for success in the Screening Check
• The key areas of phonics assessed – what’s checked and what’s not
• How to identify gaps in learning and prioritise next steps for teaching
• How to carry out the check – practicalities and common questions
• How to analyse practice checks to inform next steps for teaching
• How to support children who do not meet the required standard.

Suitable audience: Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Year One and Year Two. This course is particularly suited to ECTs, teachers and TAs new to KS1 or anyone who will be administering the Check.
