This online course will help you to use your outdoor area to develop independent oracy, reading and writing skills.

This course will provide:

• An opportunity to examine the need to reflect ‘classroom’ learning in the outside environment
• Guidance on how to plan and organise a yearly overview of activities in the outdoor area
• A clear overview on how to use familiar aspects of the outside classroom
• Advice on how to develop independent oracy, reading and writing skills
• Support on how to collect and organise resources which motivate children to use reading and writing skills in the outside environment
• Guidance on how to support learning through modelling and engagement of all adults
• Ideas for how to enhance/access areas of the outside environment even during seasonal changes and weather conditions.

 Suitable audience: Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Nursery and Reception. This course is particularly suited to ECTs, teachers new to Reception and teachers looking for some new ideas to refresh and revitalise their teaching of writing in Reception.
