This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to teach English to your new class and will help you to prioritise key learning in the Autumn Term.

The course will provide support on:

• Subject knowledge including grammar and punctuation
• Basic skills including phonics/spelling and handwriting
• Teaching oracy including vocabulary development
• Teaching reading including word reading skills and comprehension
• Teaching writing including application of transcription skills and composition.

Suitable audience:  Year 1 teachers. This course is particularly suitable for ECTs, teachers who have moved year groups or teachers who have recently returned to teaching Year 1.
