One-to-One Reading and Guided Reading in KS1 and for Intervention in KS2 (Zoom)
This course will support you to plan and teach one-to-one reading sessions and guided reading lessons in KS1. It will also support teachers or teaching assistants providing intervention for reading in KS2 with individual children or groups of children.
The course will provide:
- Guidance on how to provide effective support in one-to-one sessions
- A structured approach to planning, teaching and assessing guided reading lessons
- Advice on how to ensure children apply phonic knowledge and skills when reading decodable texts
- Advice on how to improve word reading skills
- Guidance on how to improve fluency (accuracy, automaticity, prosody)
- Support to ensure that children read for meaning and develop essential comprehension skills.
Suitable audience: Teachers and Teaching Assistants in KS1 and KS2. This course is particularly suited to ECTs, teachers and TAs new to KS1 and teachers/TAs providing intervention for children in KS2.
