Group Reading, Guided Reading and One-to-One Reading in Reception (Zoom)
This online course will support you to teach Reception children to read decodable texts using Group Reading, Guided Reading and One-to-One sessions.
This course will provide guidance on how to:
- Engage and motivate the very early readers in any class to learn how books work and to “have a go” at using newly acquired phonic knowledge
- Support children to apply taught phonics skills and knowledge into decoding words, phrases, sentences
- Develop reading for meaning and comprehension for early readers
- Develop a structured approach to planning, teaching and assessing early readers in EYFS
- Ensure children are using newly acquired phonic knowledge and other word reading skills to decode books in a school’s reading scheme
- Work with children 1-1, ensuring that this is not just ‘listening to’ but has an impact on reading progress
Suitable audience: Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Reception. This course is particularly suited to ECTs, teachers and TAs new to Reception.
